Cajon del Maipo

El Cajon del Maipo is a city and commune located in the Cordillera sector of the Metropolitan Region, 52 kilometers from Santiago.
The city was founded on July 16, 1792 by Don Ambrosio O'Higgins. At that time it was called Villa San Jose de Maipo and its construction was due to the interest and the growing business of the silver mining that was surfacing in the place.
 The territory where the locality is located is of an extraordinary beauty. Each furrow of its mountains, farellones and hills was formed thanks to the glacial erosion and the advance of the river Maipo.






The area is excellent for recreational activities such as ecotourism, hiking, zip line, canopy, mountaineering, sport fishing, mountain biking, rafting, trekking, horseback riding and taking pictures. Although for those who want a little rest, the place is very appropriate for spiritual retreats, to breathe fresh air and to connect with nature.

Colinas Thermal Springs: These are the hot springs closest to Santiago, 40 kilometers north from the city center. In this place the thermal baths are immersed between mountains and in an atmosphere of tranquility despite its proximity to the urban area. The hot springs of Colina that date from 1822 are guarded inside a military enclosure, what does not remove its opening to any public. Among its main characteristics we can mention the thermal baths, an outdoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym, event room, football field, restaurant, games room, picnic area and natural pools in the open. Its waters, on the other hand, are nourished with sodium chlorosulphates, carbonates of lime and redium, which serve to alleviate ailments such as arthritis, rheumatism, neuralgia, sinusitis and dermatitis. In this way it also helps to manage the stress and ailments associated with it.
